2025 Focus: Parking Reform for Housing

This year, we place a special emphasis on achievements that directly leverage parking reform to facilitate the development of abundant, diverse, and affordable housing. We seek to spotlight solutions that demonstrate how intelligent parking strategies are crucial for building the communities we need.

Award Categories

 Up to three Donald Shoup Awards will be presented:

Individual: Recognizing a person for their exceptional dedication, innovation, or lifetime achievement in advancing parking reform.
Organization: Honoring a non-profit, community group, academic institution, or private entity for its collective impact in parking reform.
Policymaker: Acknowledging an elected official, public servant, or governmental agency exhibiting courageous leadership in enacting and implementing impactful parking policies.

Call for Nominations

Nomination Period

May 21, 2025 – June 13, 2025

The Parking Reform Network is thrilled to launch the call for nominations for the first Donald Shoup Award! We invite you to nominate champions who have achieved significant impact through:

Developing and implementing innovative parking policies that unlock opportunities to create housing.
Conducting pivotal research that illuminates the path from parking reform to housing solutions.
Leading successful advocacy, activism, or community organizing for parking reforms.
Championing and enacting forward-thinking parking policies as dedicated policymakers.

Information Required for Nomination:

 Please be prepared to provide the following via our online form:

Nominee and Nominator contact details.
Award category selection.
A detailed description of the nominee’s project, effort, or achievement.
Clarification of the nominee’s specific role.
An explanation of the work’s importance, impact, and tangible outcomes.
(Optional) Articulation of a connection to housing production / YIMBY activities.
(Optional) Details of any connection to or impact within the local region where the award host is based. (For 2025, Connecticut / New England / Mid-Atlantic.)
(Optional) Supporting documents or links.
