Parking minimum removal
NYC consists of 5 boroughs with over 8 million people. NYC has no parking minimums in most of Manhattan, and reduced requirements (with no requirement for certain types of housing) in several other dense neighborhoods around the city. In the Manhattan Core (Community Districts 1-8), no off-street parking has been required for a number of years. Beginning in 2023, the City of Yes proposed to remove all parking mandates for housing, however this was watered down to remove minimums in a greater portion of Manhattan and Brooklyn, while reducing minimums along transit elsewhere. This version passed in December 2024.
