Parking minimum removal
Montgomery County has several parking districts in which parking mandates are waived if a tax to support district parking is paid. In recent years, the tax has been reduced to zero, thereby making parking minimums effectively zero in several downtown business districts in the county. On March 5, 2024, the county eliminated parking mandates for residential uses within a half mile of Metro stations and future Purple Line (light rail) stations, and within one-quarter mile of existing BRT stations or BRT stations funded for construction.
